After Canada won gold in men’s and women’s hockey at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Team Canada Executive Director Wayne Gretzky revealed our secret weapon: The Canadian ice makers hired to prepare the rink had hidden a Loonie under centre ice. Gretzky later donated the lucky Loonie to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.
Now we’ve hidden a Loonie—and it’s somewhere in this issue of Our Canada. Can you find it? It could be anywhere or any size, lurking in a photo or hiding in a headline (but it’s not the one on this page)! And we’ll hide one in every issue.
If you spot the Loonie, just fill the form below.
The first five correct answers we draw will win $50. Good luck! Please read the Spot the Loonie Rules here.
If you spot the Loonie, just write “I found the Loonie on page __” on a postcard or in a letter, and mail your entry to “Spot the Loonie” Contest, P.O. Box 975, STN Main Markham, Ont., L3P 0K7. Include your name and address because we’ll collect all the entries and have a drawing every other month.
